We finally arrived in Florida today! In the ICW (Intracoastal Waterway) here in the panhandle the barge traffic reminded us of the inland rivers; we encountered myriad barges in those waters. We have found the tug captains to be as friendly as everyone else. Pleasure craft are required to make radio contact with each barge they come upon to ask whether to pass on one whistle or two (starboard or port). We knew, though, that we were in Florida because of the very shallow water.
