August 30 –
We had a short trip up Lake Huron, anchoring our first night out in
Harbor Beach inside the breakwater. The next morning weighing the
anchor was interesting since it had a huge tangle of seaweed wrapped
around it. We stopped for fuel at Alpena Marina in Thunder Bay. There
was nothing happening there even though it was Labor Day weekend,
so we decided to go on to Presque Isle. On the way we passed this
wreck. There are many marked on the charts, but most are completely
submerged; it's eerie to see one like this protruding from the water.
Nice marina here, but same situation; we’re in Michigan and
summer is over!
